Up for sale is an Antique Chinese Black & Red Lacquered Bamboo Wedding Sewing Basket Inscription. It was made with bamboo and lacquered with black and red paints. A style that originated in the Han dynasty ~200 B.C. On the lid is the hand written inscription of a famous Tablet from the Han Dynasty. It was about the Qilin, a mysterious heavenly creature who embodies the virtues of Chinese civilization. He also protects these virtues on earth, using his magical powers to uplift good men wherever he finds them.
The basket is 14" (W) x 14" (D) x 13" (H) including the handle. It is in perfect condition with age appropriate wears. It is great for decorative purpose and also useful for a storage basket for daily use. It looks absolutely amazing and highly collectible!
