Backstamp: Farmers Arms B & L England
In 1851, two gentlemen named Hulme and Booth started an earthenware business in the central pottery in Burslem, Stoke-On-Trent.
This pottery produced earthenware until 1862 when two other gentlemen, William Leigh and Frederick Rathbone Burgess, formed a partnership and took over the running of the central pottery.
While Bugess and Leith passed the company down to their families, it was eventually taken over by the Leith's. During the 20th century this company became the more well known firm of "Burleigh".
