I have a very interesting piece here: it bears the markings of Bush and Perkins, made in 17th century England. However, a pewter group informed me that this plate is actually a fake made in the 1920's by a man named Richard Neate, the most notorious pewter faker in history. In fact, there was a whole book published about him which detailed the many intricate fakes that he created. Apparently, he both created his own pewter and added fake marks to already antique pieces. I find it all very fascinating, and it's really fun to hold this plate and look at the many little details and imagine this man in his workshop in England in the 1920's with his primitive instruments, creating these plates for his illicit business. It's an amazing conversation piece, a genuine antique in its own right, and as far as I can tell quite rare- I have not seen another one for sale. Thanks for looking!
