There was a pottery on the Newberry Estate in Staffordshire, England . Until 1872 the pottery remained in the hands of tenants, including Joseph Heath & Company from 1824 until at least 1841.
The plate is an amazing antique made by Joseph Heath & Co. of earthen ware ironstone using the transfer method. The plate is round, featuring a scalloped edge and beautifully detailed Italian Villa scene in red and white. Measures approx. 9"w. In good antique condition, no chips or cracks observed, manufacturers pot blisters on the underside. The edges displays light surface wear, and hairline fracture backside - see all photos for the beauty of this amazing plate.

The Potters Wheel mark is impressed on the reverse side of the plate and a transfer is printed with the pattern name “Italian Villas” in an architectural cartouche with the initials J.H.& Co.
