This is an amazing hand carved Semi-Precious gemstone Macaw Bird that is ideal for showcase display. The base is a beautiful Violet Amethyst. The Macaw bird (South American Parrot) is absolutely gorgeous with his crest, beak and tail made from stunning orange and white Jasper gemstone.
This superb gemstone piece was purchased in 1978 at the grand opening of Uruguay Piedras - an exclusive shop in the Galeria Florida Mall (Montevideo, Uruguay). The shop specialized in artistic semi-precious crystal gemstone items. At the time, it was purchased for $389 US dollars, but may be worth quite a bit more today. It is in like-new condition with no noticeable wear.
Your beautiful Macaw bird is secured extremely well to the Amethyst gemstone with no worries that it will ever dislodge. It is 9.6 ounces in weight. 4.8” tall and 3.5” wide including the tail.
