Jonas Bendiksen "Satellites"

------------------------
"Satellites" is a photobook by Jonas Bendiksen, a Norwegian photographer who became the president of the Magnum Photos photography collective at the young age of 33. After interning at Magnum, Bendiksen moved to Russia and began his career as a photojournalist. This book features photographs of people and isolated communities in the former Soviet Union. The cover photo depicts a satellite rocket's remains and people amidst the rich natural environment where white butterflies flutter. The satellites are highly toxic and pose a risk of environmental contamination. However, they are also valuable economic resources for scrap metal dealers, making their disposal difficult. Bendiksen's first photobook captures this complex environment with a journalistic perspective and outstanding artistry.

Out of print.
There are scratches on the cover and edges from when I purchased it in New York over 10 years ago.
It has been kept on the bookshelf, so the inside is clean.
