This marine compass features a copper body with a mounting flange with mounting holes, and a large solid dome viewing glass on top. Underneath the compass there are two perpendicular stainless steel axes mounted inside the housing.
The Marine Compass Company (M. C. CO.) was established in Hanover, Massachusetts, in 1910, and it purchased E. S. Ritchie & Son in 1951.
