This pipe vise uses gravity and friction to stop a pipe from sliding down into a well. Works on pipes 1 to 2 inches diameter, wells up to 8 inches diameter. It automatically brakes when the pipe moves down and releases when the pipe moves up. Hinge pin is removable so you can clamp it around the pipe.
We used it once to pull 90 feet of old galvanized pipe out of an abandoned water well and it worked perfectly. It doesn't lift the pipe, we used a mini excavator for that but a winch or t-post puller would work too. Has a few scratches from use.
