Mid Century Vase Decor Filigran by Adele Bolz Ruscha Keramik, West German Ceramic Pottery.
Hand-detailed depictions of an underwater scene featuring mermaid and fish. Toward the top and middle, a princess and ballerina are featured.
12" tall. Thick, bubbly molten lava salt glaze. Excellent condition.
Beautiful and rare vase by Adele Bolz for Ruscha Keramik. The ‘Filigran’ decor was only produced for a short period due to its labour intensity. The decor was hand carved.
Adele Bolz started in ceramic after a career as a ballet dancer. In 1955 she began at Arno Kiiechle, designing several popular decors. Ruscha managed to get her over in 1959. Next to the Filigran decor she made numerous pretty decors for Ruscha. In 1963 she left Ruscha for a career at Ulmer Keramik until her death in 1964 (aged 50).
