This NGC-certified 1735 Mexican Silver 8 Reales coin holds a profound historical significance, having been recovered from the wreckage of the Dutch ship Vliegenthart, which sank in 1734. Launched in 1730 as part of the Dutch East India Company's fleet, the Vliegenthart met a tragic fate due to adverse weather conditions, pilot error, and treacherous sandbars. All 461 individuals on board lost their lives. Discovered in 1981, the wreck yielded a treasure trove of artifacts, including this coin, among thousands of Mexican cobs, predominantly 8 Reales, in remarkably good condition. The salvaged items shed light on the extensive trade networks of the 18th century. The NGC certification ensures the authenticity and preservation of this piece of maritime history.
