This is a scaled-down version of a historic globe and celestial sphere, crafted 300 years ago by Falck, a Dutch globe maker in Amsterdam. It was acquired by Lord Matsura of the Hirado Domain and is now housed and displayed at the Matsura Historical Museum in Nagasaki's Hirado City. The original, which was imported into our country during the Edo period, is extremely rare. With permission, the item has been restored, with repairs made to any blemishes or tears, and its colors enhanced to resemble those of the era. The processing of the celestial sphere's image, featuring constellations from the Southern Hemisphere that were nearly finalized at the time, was completed with the assistance of the Information Technology Center at Tokyo Metropolitan University.
