① Recovery drive for Microsoft Surface Pro

You can restore your Microsoft factory settings (as when new) in the following situations:

* HDD or SSD replaced and performance is poor
* Upgraded Windows and want to revert to the original OS
* Computer won't start (see image 1)
* Surface is slow and freezes
* Virus infection

With this recovery drive USB memory (16GB), you can insert it into the Surface's USB port and turn on the power to display the recovery screen and restore your device as desired (images 2, 3, 4).

Recovery is possible in over 90% of cases, but in rare instances, if there is a critical issue with the Surface itself, recovery may not be possible. You can also access the UEFI settings from the recovery screen (image 5).

While a recovery drive for a standard PC can be created with about 8GB, Surface devices require a recovery drive of 10GB or more for complete recovery. Therefore, a 16GB drive is used for creating the recovery drive.

After purchase, you may be asked for the product name and serial number. The serial number is a 12-digit number located near the Windows logo on the Surface body's stand (image 6).

The serial number can also be found by pressing and holding the volume up button on the Surface (image 7) while turning on the power to enter the UEFI screen, where the 12-digit serial number will be displayed.

You may be asked for either of these serial numbers.
