First edition hardcover copy of The Red Car by Don Stanford (Funk & Wagnalls, 1954). Information is very sparse online regarding edition and print number of this title, but it is my assumption that the “5” on the bottom of the copyright page is the print number. A very rare young adult / children’s book about a young man’s introduction into car mechanics and racing on an old beat up MG sports car. Moderate wear to covers from handling and age. Corners bumped and a bit frayed. Hinges cracked and spine is cocked, though all pages are attached. Some discoloration to outer edges of text block, otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
