A brass whistle for commanding officers, adopted in the 1940s-50s.
Plastic whistles were included in survival kits or issued to enlisted personnel, and are listed separately.
Marked "REGULATION U.S.ARMY SOLID BRASS"
While MILITARY and OFFICIAL marked types are relatively common, the ARMY marked version is considered rare.
The cork ball is intact and the whistle still works.
Chain is not included, whistle only.
It has minor scratches and dirt consistent with its age, but is in relatively good condition, especially considering many of these no longer produce sound.
